Routine Examinations
All air conditioning systems require maintenance at some level. This is usually defined by the manufacturers and is required in order to maintain the warranties. This maintenance needs to be ongoing and sometimes will require enhancement. Providing competent, experienced and dedicated personnel is essential to ensure that systems remain operational and customers expectations are met.
Pre-Summer Checks
Pre-summer checks are an opportunity to ensure that HVAC systems are not just functional but are in a fit state to provide optimum cooling duty for the customers. This usually involves checking that there is the right amount of refrigerant in the system and that the heat exchangers are cleaned thoroughly.
Refrigerant Level Checks
The refrigerant charge is paramount to the reliable operation of the system, insufficient will lead to poor or no cooling, overheating and premature failure of compressors. It is therefore essential that any loss is identified, systems are pressure tested and leaks rectified.
Heating
As with pre-summer checks the ability of stock to provide full heating duty during winter months is essential, therefore checking both electrical and/or wet systems ideally should be carried out in the early autumn period.
Test Equipment
The ability to test HVAC modules off a vehicle is essential as access is usually very limited, our design and build team has produced an extensive range of bespoke test equipment for a wide range of HVAC systems for carriages, cab and locomotive.
